Instead, it advocates for a new definition of safety: Relentless Readiness—a proactive state where culture, practices, and systems are continuously prepared to respond dynamically to emerging risks. It is the flip side of Chronic Unease. ‘Relentless Readiness for Risk (or R3) – as a definition, model and system, integrates the structured discipline of Safety I with the adaptive flexibility of Safety II, creating a hybrid approach that bridges the gap between prevention and resilience. It equips organizations with real-time risk management capabilities while fostering a culture of aspiration and peak performance. The approach has been field tested over 3 years in the high-risk world of marine mining, where it deployed the principles of the High Reliability Organization (HRO), but went one step further: to the Re-Generative Organization (RGO).

Learning objectives
1. The question is: what exactly is it? In short, it is NOT the “noise” you hear, but it IS the “silences” that you don’t hear or see. The workshop will take an in-depth look at the safety culture, how it is systematically created, how it affects safety performance, describe the ‘types’ of culture and how it is measured. It will also identify 4 ‘states’ of ‘paralysis’ that plague companies today: the paralysis of fear, paralysis of protection, the paralysis of pretention and the paralysis of atrophy. Many organizations don’t know in which of these cultural “states” they operate, and how they define the “unwritten rules” of the organization.

Learning Objectives
• An evidenced-based process to ‘create’ safety culture
• Techniques of safety culture measurement
• The effect of leaders’ decisions on culture
• Profiling safety culture’s maturity levels
• Identify the states of paralysis in your own company

Methodology
This one-day seminar will leverage diverse methodologies to engage participants and cater to various learning styles. Group discussions and debates will foster critical thinking and analyze diverse perspectives. Real-world case studies will bridge theory and practice, enabling participants to apply concepts to practical challenges. Panel discussions will provide expert insights, while gamification, such as quizzes and competitions, will make learning enjoyable and engaging. Finally, reflection and action planning will help participants consolidate insights and create actionable steps for implementation.

Register for the NSC Denver Congress & Expo Here

Contact Safemap to find out more

Corrie Pitzer to present at the NSC Safety Congress & Expo Denver, CO Sept 15-17 PLUS – don’t miss Corries Professional Development SessionSeptember 13, prior to the Expo!
