THE INTENT IS TO DEPLOY A SET OF METRICS THAT WILL MEASURE SAFETY PERFORMANCE \u2018BEYOND\u2019 ZERO\/LAGGING INDICATORS AND THAT CAN BE USED TO ASSESS PROGRESS WITH SAFETY TRANSFORMATION.\u00a0‘<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Intent<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The intent is to deploy a set of metrics that will measure safety performance \u2018beyond\u2019 zero\/lagging indicators and that can be used to assess progress with safety transformation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approach<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The traditional approach in safety is to measure accident rates as an indicator of \u2018safe\u2019.\u00a0However, current science and models, have shown that the \u2018absence of accidents\u2019 cannot be regarded as a valid measurement of safety. Safemap has developed a measurement of \u2018readiness to respond to risk\u2019, based on extensive research from an Elimination of Fatalities program data with a client, and also the work of several researchers in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n
