SAFEmap has gained industry wide recognition for a range of consulting services that focus on the most critical aspects of safety.
The SAFEmap Safety Six™ model in safety is unique, unequalled and in many ways revolutionary.
It is a strategic approach that elevates safety to a core business value and addresses the most complex problem in safety: human risk-taking behaviour.
Safety Six™ is the result of many years of extensive research and development – in the real world of high risk mining. It brings together some of the most advanced management concepts, tools and models for change –focusing on safety.
Safety Six™ consists of six WE CARE strategies:
SAFEmap Safety Six™ Interventions
SI-X-Eye™ on Safety Review is a powerful change process through which the organization critically examines itself.
Level SIX™ Transformational Leadership is an advanced training course that equips managers with true leadership skills.
SMART™ Coaching training develops the skills and attitudes of supervisors to lead safety and to coach their people towards commitment and competence in safety. SMARTcoach is a behavioural safety system based on peer observations. The system involves employees in safety improvements, allows measurements and analysis of risk-taking behaviour and achieves a positive focus on safe work behaviour.
Rapid Risk Transformation™ is a facilitated process of changing reactive safety systems into proactive risk management. Through a wide network of associates and contractors, SAFEmap International can deliver a range of other Risk Management Services including:
Basic safety services such as technical training; health and rehabilitation; accident investigation and reporting; administration services; safety standards and legislative compliance and induction.
Advanced safety services such as risk analysis; safety audits; training services; research and development; and other safety and health related expertise.
Strategic safety services such as safety management plans and safety SWOT analyses.
RiskTrak™ Safety Metrics is a web-based software program that captures the behavioural observations and submissions, hazard identification and control.
X-Ray™ critical incident analysis is an advanced methodology of incident analysis, using the latest concepts of James reason, Haddon, etc to establish on-site skills and systems to analyse accidents.
Other Training programs for employees on risk assessment and risk behaviour, namely SAFEmanager, SAFEsupervisor, SAFEoperator and CBS (Competency-Based Safety Training). These programs enjoy wide industry recognition. Click on the above links for further details of each of these programs.
Skills training entails a series of training programs that are directed at different employee groups. Training of supervisors in coaching skills ensures that a core principle of value-driven leadership is established. Key employee groups are trained in ‘safety champion’ skills and senior managers are trained in transformation leadership processes. Similarly, training is provided for the Rapid Risk Transformation process and the SI-X-Ray analysis techniques, etc.
Behavioural systems and tools and assistance with the deployment of these are provided by SAFEmap. These include:
Strategic consulting is provided to the senior management and safety practitioners of the business on a continuous basis to ensure that the change and development process occurs within the strategically set parameters. This is normally done on a retainer basis with the clients
Facilitated processes are essential for skills transfer to the organization. Several of Six Interventions™ outlined above are facilitated by SAFEmap experts – ensuring that the quality and impact of these interventions are not compromised.
Organizational analyses precede many of our interventions, most notably the
e-Profile Safety
Culture Survey.
It has the world’s largest high risk industries safety culture database, with now
approximately 50 000 people in high risk industries internationally. The e-Profile
culture survey measures employees attitudes and perceptions about safety - how they view the management and supervision of safety, and whether there is real and genuine commitment
to safety in the organisation.
The survey has a large database covering the mining, processing and manufacturing sectors
within Australia and internationally. It is one of the most widely recognised surveys available today. In 1999, on behalf of the
Minerals Council of Australia SAFEmap International completed an
extensive survey of the safety culture within the Australian Resources
Industry – this was the largest ever project of its kind and which gained international recognition in the USA and Canada as a world-first for the resources industry.
