As stated above, we promote a focused Risk-based Safety Management (RSM) approach to effectively managing safety in the workplace. To support this we have a number of products and services that all work together to this end.
| The intervention process generally begins with operator training. Risk
Management training for Operators is referred to as Operational Risk
Management (ORM) – training focused on providing operations personnel
with the tools needed to practically manage workplace safety risk on an
immediate and day-to-day basis, essentially, a decision-making tool. This
can be presented as a stand-alone session, or as a follow-on to the SAFEmap
Competency-based Safety (CBS) training. |

The second step in the process is our Risk Management Practice (RMP) workshop for Supervisors and Managers. This training builds on the principles developed in ORM and provides a more comprehensive overview of the theory and tools of risk management in the workplace. Whereas the ORM examines the Identify-Assess-Control functions, RMP adds the final critical management component, Monitor(ing). |
Once both operational and management personnel are trained in the appropriate Risk Management techniques and practice, these skills should be incorporated into an appropriate Safety Management System (SMS). And to assist organizations with this task, RISKmap has developed a practical Safety Management System, the LINK Program. LINK is a tool, developed to provide an effective framework to enable a systematic risk-based safety management program to be implemented in the workplace.
The program provides the processes required which deal with the identified risk areas as well as generating immediate visible improvement in the workplace. As a result, the program produces actions which can be effectively audited and graded. This provides a means of sustaining and improving the quality of outcomes, and also leads to a positive culture of safety being generated.
