Susan Pheiffer is currently the operations manager with Safemap Africa. She was formerly an operational manager in the Behaviour Intervention Department at IRCA, a company that specialises in risk solutions in the field of occupational health and safety.
She studied through the University of South Africa and completed a BA Degree in 1995. Main subjects were Afrikaans, Communication and Industrial Psychology. In 1999 Susan completed her National Diploma in Safety through the Technikon SA. In 2001 she enrolled for a Master Management degree in Occupational Health and Safety at the University of Queensland in Australia. She completed the degree in 2003 and is currently enrolled at the same University for a MBA degree. She hopes to complete her studies in June 2006.
Susan gained extensive knowledge in occupational health and safety during her career with Iscor, Newcastle which started in 1990. She functioned as safety analyst and as safety practitioner. During 2000 she was transferred to Iscor Head Office in Pretoria where she rendered a consulting service. She assisted management in the compilation and implementation of Health and Safety plans as well as the auditing thereof. She also assisted Iscor Corporate Office in the investigation of serious and fatal accidents, audits, scheduling and chairing of Corporate Health and Safety meetings and organizing SHE functions.
During 2001 Susan joined IRCA in the Behaviour Intervention Department where she assisted customers in the implementation of a behaviour change process. She liaised with senior management and trained all levels in the theory, methodology and application of the behaviour change process.
During 2004 Susan worked as a consultant with LexisNexis. She conducted training, audits and assisted companies in the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety programs.
She joined Safemap Africa in February 2005.
